Dr. Judy Martin O.D.

Dr. Martin graduated as recipient of the Governor General’s Medal from Polyvalente Thomas Albert in Grand Falls NB in 1973 to attend the University of New Brunswick on a Lord Beaverbrook Entrance Scholarship. After completing 2 years of science, she went on to study at the University of Waterloo, graduating as a Doctor of Optometry in 1979. Dr. Martin received her ocular therapeutic drug license in 2000 through her training at the Southern California College of Optometry.

Dr. Martin’s work experience included a summer internship on the Indian reservations of Northern Ontario and NWT’s followed by a summer internship at Centracare in Saint John NB, a home for the physically and mentally challenged. Upon graduating, Dr. Martin worked as an associate in a Halifax practice for 3 years prior to setting up her own office in Spryfield where she practiced under solo ownership. She then merged her practice with Doctor’s Eye Clinic in September 2005 and continues to serve her patients at her Spryfield location.

Dr. Martin is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists as well as the Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists where she presently serves as a Council Member and Chairperson of the AGM. She has volunteered on numerous committees over the years, having chaired the Board of Examiners, Canadian Examiners in Optometry, Children’s Vision and Placement Committees. She has also been a volunteer with the intern program at the School of Optometry at Waterloo.

Dr. Martin resides in Glen Haven and is married Dr. Claude Dube, a Halifax dentist. They have a daughter, Danielle, who is a university student and a competitive sailor. They spend much of their time attending sailing regattas and hosting young sailors from across the continent. Dr. Martin has been a volunteer with the Armbrae Academy Parents Association and the Atlantic Synchro Team. Her other interests include walking, boating and spending time with family and friends.
