She then completed the Doctor of Optometry program from the University of Waterloo in 2006, where she was awarded the Dr. Margaret Hansen desGroseilliers Leadership Award. As part of her training, she completed an internship in ocular pathology and therapeutics at Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in Mesa, Arizona.
Dr Scott first became a member of the Doctors’ Eye Clinic team as an intern in 2005. She then returned as a practicing optometrist in the fall of 2006 and is currently working at the Spring Garden, Lower Sackville, and Northwood locations.
While in school, Dr. Scott was the president of the Canadian Association of Optometry Students (CAOS), as well as optometry’s representative in the National Association of Health Science Students. Additionally, she spent a week in Guatemala doing eye exams and dispensing donated glasses. She is currently a member for the Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists, the Newfoundland Labrador Association of Optometrists, and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. She hopes to become more involved within the optometric community in the near future.
