The History of Doctors Eye Clinic

Doctors Eye Clinic began in 1984 as a single doctor practice in Lower Sackville. Dr. Carew, through hard work and a single minded dedication to providing the highest level of customer care, quickly grew this initial location to the point where there were two locations and four doctors, (Dr. Carew, Dr. Paula Gaudet, Dr. Michael Baird, & Dr. Debbie Currie).

Realizing that there were many more potential patients in other areas of the city that deserved the kind of professional, friendly service that his team was providing in Lower Sackville, the group began looking for opportunities to bring like minded doctors into the DEC family.

Meanwhile in Spryfield Dr. Judy Martin began building her substantial practice in 1983. With the acquisition of a brand new building on Dentith Rd. Dr. Martin has built her practice and reputation on a total dedication to life-long eye care.

In fairly quick succession between 2005 and 2006 Dr. Judy Martin, and Dr. Jacquelyn Smith jointed the team increasing our number of clinics to 3 and doctors to 6.

In 2007 we acquired the old McKinnions Optical on Spring Garden Rd and completed a total renovation in the Spring of 2009. That same year Dr. Allison Scott joined the team.

Today we have 7 doctors of Optometry and a support team of 12 Opticians, 12 Pre-Testers and 10 back-office staff.

Each and everyone of the team is dedicated to making your trip through the eye-health journey as pleasant, efficient and friendly as possible.
